Most days, I still feel like a teenager even though I'm a mom of four (and my oldest will be a legal adult next month!) But the reality is, I'm 37 years old, and my skin is starting to show it. So when I had the opportunity to review Ageless Derma's Anti-Aging Intensive Skin Brightener, I was curious to see what it could do for me.
As soon as it arrived, I was intrigued by the design - this product has a dispenser unlike any other skin cream I've tried. Instead of a plain jar where you scoop out the product (and inevitably get it under your fingernails), or a squeeze-type bottle where you have to shake it like a ketchup bottle to get the product out, this one has an airless pump that dispenses the product by simply pushing down on the top.
No more goop under my fingernails! However, the top does unscrew easily as well if you prefer to scoop your beauty cream out or are running low and need to scrape up the last little bit left in the container.
The cream itself doesn't have much of a scent, which is nice if you'd rather not smell like your skin cream. (Personally, I prefer to smell like my coconut body spray rather than like whatever I'm putting on my face). There's a very faint, almost clay-like scent, but it's definitely not a heavily perfumed product like others I've tried. The cream is very smooth, just like a moisturizing lotion, and goes on easily and absorbs quickly.
So, what about the results? I tried this product out for about three weeks. I have to admit that I'm not the best about following a strict skin care regimen. The instructions say to "apply at night and morning," but with our hectic mornings I didn't always remember. That being said, when I compared my before and after pictures, I do see a difference in just three weeks of imperfect application. (Pictures were taken in the same room with the same lighting at the same time of day; both pictures are of my nifty little freckles/age spots that have shown up around my eyes and cheekbones).
The dark spots are still there, but seem to be lighter and less obvious. There's also less redness in my skin in the second picture, but I think that's more due to differences in the weather on the two different days than any effect of the skin brightener. (It was bitter cold outside when I took the first picture, and the heat in my house is very dry and dries out/reddens my skin - I took the picture before I'd even applied moisturizer).
I do intend to keep using this product and see if I can get those pesky spots to disappear completely. Now if only I could find something to get rid of the dark circles under my eyes...
