You can choose from a variety of themes, including Holiday Favorites, Beaches-Cruises, Another Time-Another Place, and Historical (among others). The personalization doesn't just stop at the names of the hero and heroine, though - when you fill out the order form, you can personalize things like hair and eye color, city of residence, make of the hero's car, where the characters work, pet names for each other, and many more details that make this book truly personalized just for you! You can even choose if you want the story to be Wild (although not graphic) or Mild!
And if you're not a romance novel reader yourself, this makes a great one-of-a-kind Christmas gift for the romantic in your life. Print orders placed by December 17th will be available in time for Christmas; eBooks are available within hours! Prices vary depending on the theme and format of book (ebook, paperback, or hardcover; print books can include a photo of the starring couple on the cover for a little extra), but range from $14.95 for an eBook novella up to $119.95 for certain titles as a hardcover with a photo, with lots of options in between.

Ah, Christmas. That magical time of year when there’s never enough time or money or AA batteries (not included). The one time of year you can bribe your kids to be extra good with the promise of Santa’s rewards. (And no, I'm totally not above bribing my kids - use what you've got!) But what if your kids are starting to doubt your stories of a strange man who directs flying deer to your house so he can drop down your chimney, eat all your cookies, drink all your milk, and leave some toys under the tree before heading on to the next houseful of good and obedient children? Well, then, you just have to come up with creative ways to prove Santa’s existence to them.
Sure, you can have dad or grandpa dress up as Santa and let the kids “catch” him. Odds are that won’t fool them, though, and besides, do you have any idea how expensive it is to rent a Santa costume? Besides, there’s an easier way! And best of all, it’s completely FREE until December 10th! (And keep reading to find out how you can enter to win an iPad Air!)
Santa kind of looks like he's peeking down my sister's shirt here...[/caption] When I first heard about iCaughtSanta.com, I’ll admit that I really wasn’t sure I’d like the results. I’m somewhat less than Photoshop-savvy, and it seemed like it’d be way too obvious that Santa was an add-on because the image wouldn’t blend in with my own picture. But I was very pleasantly surprised with what I came up with! (So much so that instead of doing just one picture, I wound up looking for more pictures and hanging out on the site for a while putting Santa in all of them).
iCaughtSanta.com is a great way to add a little Christmas spirit back into your kids’ Grinchy little hearts. You can add Santa (or Rudolph, or both of ‘em) into any of your pictures and make it look like Santa’s just chilling at your house. And they’re offering you the chance to try it out for FREE using promo code #SantaShare through December 10th! They’re also offering a Customer Appreciation Contest with over $1,500 in prizes! Top prize is an iPad Air with Retina Display worth $649, with ten other prizes for ten other winners. Make sure you get your entries in for this great contest before December 30th! To enter, just go to iCaughtSanta.com and scroll down to the Rafflecopter widget on their page.
iCaughtSanta.com is really easy to use, and very cleverly designed. Once go to the site, you just click the green ornament that says “Click Here to Get Started.” Pick a picture to upload, type in your email address and name, and start having fun! There are 20 different Santa (and Rudolph) poses you can pick from – Surprised Santa, Sleeping Santa, Santa coming down the chimney, Santa getting a kiss from Mommy, and many more. You can zoom in and out on both your picture and on Santa to get the sizing right, and move Santa to wherever you want him in the frame. I was really happy to see that you can also adjust Santa’s color and brightness levels to make him look like he was in the picture all along! There are also several borders to choose from if you want to add one to your creation.
At the checkout page, you can download your free photo and share it via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or email. You’ll see a lot of other options they offer, and other characters you can “catch” in a photo - the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and Cupid. You’ll also see the option to make a video with your picture as the background! The Elf-Cam is a pretty neat little toy to play with too. You can see your video for free, and it’s only $4.99 with a photo purchase to buy the un-watermarked version. To see an example, here’s Santa hanging out by the Christmas stockings. So head on over and check it out – it’s free, so you have nothing to lose, and maybe a little Christmas magic to gain!

And then the iPhone broke - it got dropped and despite the protective case on it, the screen shattered. Worse, I found that we didn't have a warranty on it like I thought we did. So I dug out my older Motorola phone as a backup for the kids to use, and now we are iDevice-less. No iPhone, no iPad, nothing that's compatible with the Cyber Hoop, since there's not an Android app for it.
So I'm offering to you, my readers, a brand-new, unopened Nerf CyberHoop. This includes the hoop with wireless connectivity and score-tracking paddle, ball, mobile device stand and instructions.
The highlight reel was a particular favorite of my 13-year-old – he would record himself doing goofy solo slam dunks (note: this toy is not designed for serious slam dunking), and then got a huge kick out of watching the playback. This is a large part of why I bought a second hoop – my 8-year-old loves recording videos (just in general – he’ll record himself drawing pictures and then watch the playback), but is too small to mimic his brother’s moves to record his own videos. My plan was to attach the 2nd hoop right to the wall at 8-year-old-height so he could slam dunk too. Oh well; he’s pretty happy recording whatever else catches his interest, especially since his brothers aren’t recording slam dunk videos anymore either.
The Nerf Cyber Hoop, which is recommended for ages 8 and up, connects wirelessly to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch (iPhone 4/4S/5, iPod touch 4th or 5th generation, or iPad 2/3/4). It also requires 3 AAA batteries – obviously, neither the batteries nor the iDevice are included. You’ll need to download the free NERF Cyber Hoop app from the App Store; in-app purchases are available but are not required. The app itself does not require an internet connection after it’s installed, but you won’t be able to use all of the features if you’re not connected.
The Nerf Cyber Hoop normally sells for $19.99 but is currently 25% off on Amazon, so you can get it for just $14.99 if you’d like to purchase one for yourself.

So today I wanted to share with you some of Amazon's Best Books of 2013. I haven't read all of the ones posted here (yet!) - despite becoming a stay-at-home mom, my reading time has been drastically reduced as of late. My Goodreads Reading Challenge for this year shows that I'm 46% (23 books) behind on reaching my goal of 52 books for the year. *sigh* (To see what I have managed to read this year, visit my Goodreads page!) However, all the books below are ones I've either read or that are on my to-read list (which is a very long list that grows longer by the day!)
Siliconies are silicone jewelry pieces that are designed to be stimulating and interesting for children. They are made by Family Bedrock, a family company with two young children of their own. Nicole, the mom of Family Bedrock, says that her oldest son was always putting everything in his mouth and she wasn't able to find anything on the market that truly fit their needs, so they decided to make their own products. We have the Turtle Pendant for my son and we both love it. He loves the texture and shape. I love that it is big enough that I don't have to worry about it being a choking hazard and that I don't have to worry about my son ingesting dangerous chemicals. Because they are made of silicone, the Siliconies are FREE from BPA, PVC, Phthalates, Cadmium, Latex and Lead. The pendants also come on a cord with a break-away clasp so you don't have to worry about your little one getting injured by the cord.
I cannot recommend Siliconies enough if you have a child who likes to bite. We eventually discovered that my son's biting problem is caused by Sensory Processing Disorder, and Siliconies will be great for him for years to come as we learn to deal with that. Siliconies are great for teething babies as well as children who need the extra sensory input that they get from chewing or mouthing objects, like my son. We aren't the only family who loves them either. Their turtle and square pendants are so popular that Family Bedrock has just released a new shape, the Froggy Pendant, which is super cute and I am looking forward to getting that one for my son too.

I have an addiction. I LOVE McDonald’s McCafé specialty coffee drinks – or more specifically, I love their mochas. Or as my husband calls them, “brownies in a cup.” Fresh ground espresso, chocolate syrup, steamed milk, topped with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle – what’s not to love? Admittedly a mocha isn’t the healthiest drink I could choose at McDonald’s, but I love them the way I love the occasional chocolate cupcake. I have a thing for chocolate. McDonald’s mochas are a special treat for me. When I went back to college as a “non-traditional student” (a mom of three who was working a full-time job) and made the President’s List, I treated myself to a mocha. When I got my first check from a publisher for a story I’d written – a story someone was willing to pay me real money for! – I deposited the check pretty quickly (after taking a picture of it for posterity), but kept a little cash to go through the drive-thru for a mocha on my way home. When I’m having a rough day, my husband knows that a little chocolate-caffeine fix from McDonald’s will improve my mood (smart man, that one).
But that’s not what I’m here to talk about. I’m here to talk about books!
Happy Meal books, to be exact. Through November 14th, McDonald’s is offering limited-edition books in lieu of toys in their Happy Meals! As part of their launch they’ve also joined forces with Reading is Fundamental (RIF) to provide an additional 100,000 Happy Meal books (on top of the 20 million that will be distributed in the Happy Meals) to children who may not have easy access to book. Furthermore, McDonald’s has partnered with DK Publishing to provide a different interactive e-book on their McPlay app every month through the end of 2014! The first digital book, “The World’s Greatest Cities,” introduces DK Publishing’s Amazing World Series. The Happy Meal Books, as well as the DK Publishing e-books, are available for download at HappyMeal.com.
“We’re excited to invite families to spend time together and celebrate the joy of reading through these fun and original Happy Meal Books,” said Ubong Ituen, vice president of marketing for McDonald’s USA. “This is the latest step in our ongoing efforts to enrich the lives of families, and part of a broader book strategy that will combine the fun of the Happy Meal, new partners and technology to inspire more family reading time.”To read the full article, visit McDonald's Newsroom.
McDonald’s was kind enough to send me a complimentary Family Reading Pack, including a copy of each of the four books, to review and share with my children. With their whimsical illustrations and imaginative storylines, my kids were hooked! The first one we read was “The Goat Who Ate Everything” – my kids were instantly drawn to the creative cover, which has a chunk bitten out of the corner, proving the point that this goat will eat anything and everything! But the poor goat discovers that eating everything leads to tummyaches, while eating right leaves him feeling great!
“Ant, Can’t” tells the story of Alexi Ant, who encourages physical fitness and leads the effort to save the anthill from a construction crew.
Next up was “Doddi the Dodo Goes to Orlando” – but Doddi’s journey is very roundabout (she travels from Toledo to Orlando via northern Canada, Spain, Cairo, Moscow, and many other locales). Her various stops along the way open the door to conversations with your kids about a lot of different places in the world.
My personal favorite of the four books was “Deana’s Big Dreams” – the story of a tiny dinosaur who eventually grows so big she outgrows the book!
Each book also comes with this cute little bookmark, encouraging kids to think about other books they love.
1 lucky winner will receive:
1 Optimus Prime Hoodie from 80's Tees ($60 arv) review
and a choice of 1 T-shirt from Snorg Tees (up to $25 arv) review
In case you young'uns don't know, "No Ma'am" from Married with Children, a show both my husband and I enjoyed greatly when it was still on the air. I also discovered that a more apt name for their site would be "80's Tees and Other Neat Stuff," as I also found some awesome pint glasses that I HAD to have (a Paddy's Irish Pub one for him, and a Princess Bride one that warns "Contents May Contain Iocane Powder" for me).
Sadly, I didn't see the pint glasses until after I'd already placed my order. This was my first purchase with them, and I'd signed up for their newsletter to get 10% off the order. I emailed customer service to see if they'd let me add a couple of items on to the already-submitted order, and I have to say, they have GREAT customer service. Their representative emailed me back promptly and was happy to let me add on the pint glasses to my order so I could receive my 10% discount on those as well.
My husband LOVED his shirt and wears it regularly (even to his job - he works behind the scenes at a television station, so it's sort of appropriate) and we both use our new pint glasses every day.
So try your luck, see if you'll be the lucky winner!
Don't forget to come back every day to enter for extra chances to win!
This giveaway is open to US only, 18+ and will end on November 22.
